Emma's Story

I decided to go back and visit the boarding school in early October of last year. Emma and my dad went with me. When we got there the girls were watching a video on abortion. At the end of the movie they were asked if their views on abortion had changed. Many of the replies were that they no longer agreed with abortion unless the girl was raped or didn't know who the biological father of the baby was.

I was then invited up to tell my story to the girls. When I was finished I told them I was going to tell Emma's story as well. I told them that the baby that they were just calling the most beautiful and cutest baby alive would not be here today if I had gotten an abortion for the reasons that they had said it was okay to get an abortion. Not only did I not know who Emma's biological father was, but one of her possible daddies is the man who raped me.

I don't know if I changed every girls views on abortion, but I do know that I changed some. I don't believe in abortion, but I don't judge those who do. It makes me cry when I hear about abortions, because now I picture my beautiful little daughter, ripped into a bunch of little pieces, the life and joy gone from her face, just lying there in the trash.

Even though I had multiple people around me, including one of the possible baby dadies, telling me to get an abortion. I was told to get one every day up until I started dating Kyle and was able to get away from those kind of people. Not once during those days did I even consider it. This was a life and mine to take care of. I was not going to fail my responsibilities as a parent before my daughter had the chance to take her first breath. I've never regretted giving birth to her and keeping her to raise myself. She is my biggest blessing.
